John 5:1. After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3. In these lay a geat multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water; whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked:
Thirty eight years. Just stop and think about that for a minute.
Someone had taken him to the pool each year for thirty eight years. And always went home the same old way. He never give up or let discouraging spirits stop him. You know saten had to discourage him. Like why even go, you've been there year after year and no one has even offered to help you in the pool. It's like a herd of wild sheep after the water is troubled. Everyone is out for their self.
I can just hear all the discouraging words coming to him. But he pushed against the odds, hoping some how to get in the pool. For all those that has been sick and under doctors care for long, long periods of times, this gives me hope for them. Because when it comes down to it, if you are faithful to him, and you never get no help from no one, except some relief of pain at times after they pray. But you never get totally healed. God can come on the sceen, personally and touch you and raise you up. He operated in different ways. If no prophet, preacher, brother or sister ever lays hands and you never get no instant healing.
Don't give up, remember this man by the pool, God visited him personally and He has visited me personally many times in the mid night hours, when no one else was around. He has never let me down. I thought he was going to be too late many times, but he showed up right on time, just before I died or went under from the enemies coming again me so forcefully. He seems to be a slow poke, but he makes it right on time. We just can't understand his ways all time. We just have to learn to trust and wait on him. Deuteronony 8:2..And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not,
3..And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word, that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.
Isaiah 40:27 thru 31..Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wing as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
